Preliminary Wetland Delineation

ECS provides clients with comprehensive Preliminary Wetland Delineation for commercial, industrial, or residential properties. 


ECS's environmental specialists are highly educated and trained in Florida's wetland and waters of the U.S. habitats to accurately assess and delineate these habitats, in order to warrant that our clients receive the most accurate information and quality consultation on any necessary actions.

A potential first step in the due diligence process that investigates the property sites current habitat to assess for the existence and physical limits of wetland habitats, or surface waters, for the purpose of federal, state, and local regulations.  Identification of wetlands is conducted utilizing multiple parameters including vegetation indicator species, hydric soils, and hydrology. 

Wetland Delineation is a form of jurisdictional determination. This is a process that identifies if any water bodies within a project's boundaries meets the definition per Chapter 62-340, F.A.C.  "Waters of the United States", also known as WOTUS, is the federal definition. This process is regulated under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act.

 

Wetlands are defined as “areas that are inundated or saturated by surface or ground water at a frequency and duration sufficient to support, and that under normal circumstances do support, a prevalence of vegetation typically adapted for life in saturated soil conditions. Wetlands generally include swamps, marshes, bogs, and similar areas.”

A Preliminary Wetland Delineation usually takes anywhere from 2-4weeks to complete. Depending on the location, size, and complexity of the site's conditions.
